WE DO LIVE TV

Live-switched TV coverage is a specialized part of TV production, requiring special skills and facilities not normally found in “separate- camera-and-editing” production popular these days. Live “OB” production is still the best way to cover long-form events, live to air broadcasting, webcasts, and recorded productions where a lengthy editing phase is not possible. We supply subcontracted Outside Broadcast Van facilities and technical expertise, to producers and other OB companies in the Broadcast, Pay TV, and Events industries.

OUR “VALUE PROPOSITION”

As an independent privately owned Aussie small business, our overheads are fairly low, as we work from home and own and support all the gear we supply, so we can offer very efficient pricing and can spend more time and attention on most jobs, and in supporting our clients. We don’t normally get tied up with long seasonal work contracts, so as long as you book well in advance, our availability is relatively good. As a facility subcontractor, we don’t produce whole events or productions ourselves, so we are never “competing” with our clients.

Live TV isn’t just cameras and switching, it’s also audio, communications, special lenses and camera mounts, and various site amenities, project planning and broadcast engineering issues not usually handled by AV companies.

Our main service to the industry is our mid-sized digital outside broadcast van,

delivering a complete basic equipment package.

This well equipped and well integrated package is usually supplied on a per-day basis with OB tech manager.

On larger or longer jobs, the system is complemented with a tender truck,

containing the cameras, lenses, audio and lighting kits, and lots of useful extras and spares.

Our optional third truck provides a production office, and an editing, tapes, webcasting and ingest area.

Some “unit” facilities such as outdoor furniture, coffee kit, canopies, etc are usually included.

Owner Peter Collis has 34 years’ working experience in television technology and operations, with MITC Television Practitioner Certification. This combination of expertise and well-organised technology provides a useful and hard-to-find supplement to today’s TV industry, where people with genuine technical knowledge and skills are rapidly becoming extinct. We can recommend or supply specialist freelance crew for audio, CCU, graphics, switching, etc.
